Shift feel can be set smoother or firmer to match the request. Fuel, spark, and timing compensation are adjusted across the throttle range.
Most street applications stay in the full-emissions category; a no-emissions speed-density calibration is available for off-road use.

Torque-based Gen IV controllers used across Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac platforms.
The short-lived 2005 E40 bridged earlier systems with a 24X crank signal and electronic throttle. The 2007-and-later E38 became the volume standard, with a faster processor and 58X reluctor support.
Both manage drive-by-wire throttle, air-fuel delivery, and spark for precise control of Gen IV V8s.
